For Primary School Girls Aged 9+
Through my study of Well-Being and Mindfulness, combined with Positive Psychology (University of Pennsylvania) and Emotional Intelligence (YALE School of Medicine), comes a deep understanding of the importance of Emotional Intelligence in the role of leadership, and in the role of raising our daughters to be strong, speak their truth, prioritise themselves, and follow their own goals and dreams.
Be Brave. Speak up. Be Confident. Be a Leader. Be a Champion.
Don’t raise ‘good girls’, here’s what I mean by this, and it is something I have struggled with myself.
It’s the societal expectation that we need to raise ‘good girls’, which essentially means we are unconsciously teaching our daughters to neglect themselves from an early age, so that they can manage other people’s emotions, that others don’t know how to manage on their own.
And as a result, our girls become completely disconnected from who they are, what they want, and what they like, so they can be completely attuned to what other’s want and what other’s like so that our girls can make others happy. We are teaching our daughters to keep the peace, all as a means for them to feel safe.
This programme will teach your daughters about true power, self-connection, speaking their own truth and following their dreams. Prioritising oneself and deeply understanding who they are on a super conscious level.
Well-Being and Mindfulness Techniques
The first tier of this programme will be Learning strategies and techniques for well-being and mindfulness. Meditation and breathing techniques, Somatic exercises which incorporates self-love and mind body connection.
What can this help with?
This can help with anxiety, stress, and being able to better deal with high-pressure situations whether it be academic pressure, competitive sports and performance pressure.
Emotional Intelligence Awareness
Emotional Intelligence is the knowledge of our own emotions and therefore others’ emotions. It is the skill of connecting to oneself, going within to become aware of our emotions. Recognising, accepting, regulating, expressing and releasing.
The importance of teaching our daughters Emotional Intelligence helps them to acknowledge what specific emotions are, understanding them and learning specific techniques and strategies for dealing with them.
With the knowledge of oneself, comes the knowledge of other people and the ability to recognise these emotions in other people. A very important aspect of this programme is learning that we are not responsible for anyone else’s emotions or how other people choose to deal with their emotions. It’s about how we control ourselves, not others.
Goal Setting and Leadership
The 3rd Tier of this programme is figuring out our true goals. Again, this involves going within oneself, connecting to our truth and listening to what it is we want for ourselves. Not only what, but why? Why do we want to achieve this? And what would having this do for us? Working out small steps towards the end goal and keeping on track.
Learning what it means to be a true leader. Leadership is not about being the ‘boss’ and being in charge of, or in control of other people. It’s about inner connection, understanding a deeper level of our consciousness and having this reflect outwards onto everything we do, and everyone we interact with. True leadership comes from knowing yourself and being unwavering in anything you set your mind to.
Finding your Voice and Speaking your Truth
I see this in my daughters, as well as myself at times. Where I will avoid speaking my opinion, expressing my feelings on a topic, as well as avoiding having a conversation around something that bothers me. All to ‘keep the peace’ and avoid other’s possible emotional outbursts due to their low emotional intelligence and inability to regulate their own emotions. Their default emotion for frustration or sadness or anxiety become anger, because they have never learnt to deal with their own emotions.
We will cover strategies and techniques as well as learn Positive Phrases for dealing with challenging situations, to help these young women find their voice and speak their truth, to challenge and embrace the conflict, when necessary, not to shy away from it.
